The Terms of Acquisition of the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card
- The Terms of Acquisition of the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card sets the rules for obtaining and delivering the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card.
- The International Student Identity Card is issued to an individual with a full-time student status. In the Republic of Lithuania the academic status of students’ is checked in the Students’ Register.
- The status of students’ studying abroad is checked with reference to the official document issued by the Applicants’ higher educational institution (Confirmation document). The later must be submitted by the Applicant. The Confirmation document must include the following: 1. Statement that the Applicant for a Student Identity Card is a full-time student at college or university; 2. Indicate the end date of the Applicants’ studies; 3. Has to be dated and signed; 4. Has to be issued not later than three months ago.
- The International Student Identity Card is valid for a period of up to 16 months counting from the 1st of September of the current year until the end of the following year. On the 1st of September of each year new International Student Identity Cards are launched; they are valid for the period of up to 16 months. In case the Card is ordered later than September, it will be valid for a shorter period of time. Ex. a) For the 1st -3rd year students the International Student Identity Card is valid for 16 months counting from the 1st of September each year until the end of the following year (e.g. 2024/09 – 2025/12). b) For the students of last year International Student Identity Card is valid up to 12 months, counting from the 1st of September each year until 30th of September next year (e.g. 2024/09 – 2025/09). c) For the students studying for a shorter period of time, such as 3,5 or 1,5 year, the International Student Identity Card is valid for up to 9 months, counting from the 1st of September each year until the 31st of May next year (e.g. 2024/09 – 2025/05).
- For listeners, part-time students or students of additional/prolonged studies International Student Identity Card is not issued.
- The International Student Identity Card can be issued during academic leave.
- The International Scholar Identity Card can be issued for students of secondary schools from 12 years old and for students of vocational schools. Student status is checked in the Scholars’ Register. On the 1st of September of each year new International Student Identity Cards are launched; they are valid for the period of up to 16 months. In case the Card is ordered later than September, it will be valid for a shorter period of time. Ex. a) For 5-11 grade students ISIC is valid until 31st of December, 2025; b) For 12 grade students ISIC is valid until 30th of September; c) For vocational school students ISIC is valid until 31st of December OR until 30th of May or September 30th, when the study period is shorter (eg., 3,5 years or 1,5 years.)
- The International Teacher Identity Card can be issued for persons working pedagogical work and registered in Teachersʼ Register. The list of positions considered as pedagogical work can be found on the website of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania: https://e-seimas.lrs.lt/portal/legalAct/lt/TAD/TAIS.219282/uyubhosaLA.
- Validity of the International Teacher Identity Cardis fixed. It starts from 1st of September of each year and lasts for 1 academic year (up to 16 months). (e.g. 2024/09 – 2025/12).
- The Applicant for the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card is fully responsible for the correctness of the data provided in the order form.
- In case of suspicion of the correctness of the data, ISIC Lithuania has the right to apply to the educational institution for the verification of data.
- If the Applicant selects the option “I will pay and take…” in the online order form, the production of the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card is started only upon arrival at the chosen issuing point, after the Applicant provides a document of a personal identity and pays for the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card.
- If the Applicant selects the option “Pay online and choose a delivery to my home/terminal” in the online order form, the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card is made within 1-4 working days from the date of order placement. In exceptional cases, the Applicant is informed about the suspension of production. For students of foreign high schools, the period of production may be extended due to the necessity to address the Applicant’s higher educational institution. An e-mail message is sent to the Applicant after the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card is made and dispatched.
- In the territory of Lithuania postal items travel 2-5 work days (depending on time the order was made and type of delivery chosen). In case the delivery address is abroad, the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card will be delivered in up to 14 work days. In case the Applicant does not receive the notification of the shipment after 5 working days from the date of dispatch, the Applicant may write an e-mail at info@isic.lt and ISIC Lithuania will provide the shipment number or other necessary information.
- The International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card is delivered within 1 working day in Lithuania when choosing the option of delivery to LP Express terminals. In case the Applicant does not receive the notification of the shipment after 2 working days from the date of dispatch, the Applicant may write an e-mail at info@isic.lt and ISIC Lithuania will provide the shipment number or other necessary information.
- In the case the address was indicated incorrectly or the Applicant does not pick-up the parcel at the Lithuanian Post Office within 30 days, it is returned to the sender and can be picked up at the central office of ISIC Lithuania or, after paying for the additional shipment, can be sent out again.
- If the address / contact details are specified incorrectly or the parcel is not removed from the LP Express terminal within 5 days, it will be taken to the LP Express Logistics Center. The parcel then can be taken within 30 days from the LP Express Logistics Center.
- The Applicant will be notified by e-mail and / or phone indicated in the order form, in case there will be any technical details obstructing the process of making the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card (order status, expiration date, technological innovation, etc.).
- If you lose, damage, tear off the laminate layer, the duplicate of the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card cannot be issued. In this case, the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card can be re-ordered and the old one is automatically blocked in the system. The cardholder has to inform ISIC Lithuania about the loss of its’ card by e-mail info@isic.lt.
- Any information related to personal data that is registered on www.isic.lt is kept secret and not disclosed, used only during the production of the International Student / Scholar / Teacher Identity Card. In exceptional cases, the data may be transferred to third parties, with which official agreements are signed, and to the extent necessary for the organization of the ISIC cards administration and to the extent necessary to provide service, without prejudice to the GDPR Regulation and the laws of the Republic of Lithuania.
- If the customer orders an ISIC/ITIC card for which, according to the ISIC issuing rules, ISIC /ITIC card cannot be issued, it is considered the customer’s fault and in the case of a refund, ISIC reserves the right to apply a service fee of 2 € .
- ISIC Lithuania reserves the right to change, correct or supplement the rules at any time in accordance with legal requirements.
- All disagreements arising from the implementation of these rules shall be resolved by negotiation. In case of failure to reach an agreement, disputes shall be settled in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Lithuania.
